Developing clinically validated algorithm to relate heart rate to anxiety states in children with autism using wearable wristbands. Parents and therapist of children with autism are unable to objectively measure anxiety and rely on behavioral cues or asking children subjective questions such as “is your engine running?”. Dymaxia’s Anxiety Meter technology has been developed and clinically validated for over 3 years at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Canada’s largest children’s rehabilitation hospital. The clinically validated algorithm invented by Dr Evdokia Anagnostou and Dr. Azadeh Kushki allows for the objective detection of anxiety states in children with ASD. Using heart rate the Anxiety Meter continuously and passively monitors the child’s anxiety state using an off-the-shelf wearable wristband to alert child and caregivers of rising anxiety BEFORE an outburst and provide customizable prompts to proactively manage anxiety. Information is presented in real-time to the user to promote self-awareness and help them to better manage their anxiety symptoms.
